L’eredità morale e politica di Mazzini nel socialismo riformista di Argentina Bonetti Altobelli = Mazzini's moral and political legacy in Argentina Bonetti Altobelli’s reformist socialism

Argentina Bonetti Altobelli was a leading figure in Italian socialism and trade unionism during the first half of the 20th century. She was active in the campaign for the rights of agricultural workers, and par- ticularly for female workers who were subjected to worse living and working conditions than their male counterparts. This essay explores the ideological roots that contributed to the formation of Bonetti Altobelli’s political thought and action, arguing that these are primarily rooted in Mazzinian thought and the reformist socialism promoted in Italy by Turati and Kuliscioff. Having analysed her conceptual framework, her objectives and the tools used to achieve them, the conclusion reached is that Bonetti Altobelli’s thought and action were the result of her syncretic ability, which enabled her to fuse Mazzinian thought and reformist socialism into an original intellectual framework.
