The relationship between cinema, audiovisual media, and schools raises theoretical, methodological, political, and practical questions. This special issue, introduced by this essay, highlights the diversity of modes and implications of this relationship, emphasising the importance of finding sustainable and productive ways for dialogue between schools and the media. Specifically, the introduction focuses on three points: how cinema and the media can be integrated into educational programmes; which approaches and methodologies can be used to teach media and to teach with media; and how the teaching of cinema and audiovisual media in schools can be made sustainable and ongoing.
Il rapporto tra cinema, audiovisivi e scuola solleva questioni di natura teorica, metodologica, politica e pratica. Lo speciale che questo saggio introduce illumina la pluralità dei modi e delle implicazioni di tale rapporto, ribadendo la necessità di individuare forme sostenibili e feconde di dialogo tra scuola e media. In particolare, questa introduzione si concentra su tre punti: come il cinema e i media possono entrare nei percorsi educativi; quali approcci e metodologie si possono adottare per insegnare i media e con i media, e come si può rendere sostenibile e continuativo l’insegnamento del cinema e dell’audiovisivo nelle scuole.
