Following a theoretical post-structuralist approach, the paper analyzes the discursive construction of the landscape in the Sardinian legislation from 2006 when it has been approved the first Regional Landscape Plan. The article focuses on the quality of being “built” of the landscape rather than on its technical aspects. The Landscape is a device capable of catalyzing and carrying very different and conflictual discourses, rhetorics and representations as well as an extraordinary tool that shapes reality. The analysis of the discourse on landscape and its protection in legislation can address and problematize the role played by the landscape in relation to broader economic and political interests.
