The parish church of San Pietro in Assemini, near Cagliari, belongs to the buildings group of late Gothic typology of catalan origin, in its variant of Southern Sardinian. The first model in Sardinia of this typology is the sanctuary of Bonaria in Cagliari, built between 1324 and 1326. This typology was adopted for ecclesiastical buildings until the end of XVI century with persistences until the XVII century. The San Pietro church derives its pattern from that of San Giacomo parish of Cagliari (XIV-XV century). The only analytic study of the San Pietro dates back to 1966, when Renata Serra proposed a chronology of construction phase based on the stylistic and comparative analysis. In this article we propose a new reading of chronology according to recents documentary acquisitions.
