In this paper, taking into account the notion of "equality" in the reflection of Alfred Schütz, a problem faced by the philosopher in that area of his work dedicated to the "study of social theory applied", but susceptible to major developments in the philosophical level , especially on the ethical. The problem, in fact, is on two different levels of investigation: the first is aimed at understanding the socio-cultural dynamics through which every human group bases its meaning of the concept of equality, meaning that assumes a different value depending on the context social environment in which it is originated. The second, however, the problem in key ethics and work in the direction of an attempt to reconcile the criterion of subjective choice and universal principle of equality.
