Abstract

The medieval chapels built in the transept of Santa Maria di Castello in Cagliari show the transition of Sar‐dinia from the tuscan cultural and political context to the Arago‐Catalan sphere of influence. The chapels were closed during the restoration of the Cathedral, promoted by archbishop Pietro Vico between the 17th and the 18th century. The finding of medie‐val chapels is known through archi‐val documents, which show that the discovery occurred in 1902, during Archbishop Palace’s renovation.
