Contribution to the knowledge of freshwater microalgae from Ogliastra’s Tacchi (Centre-East Sardinia) - The author report some preliminary observations on the freshwater algae collected in Ogliastra’s Tacchi which is situated in the centre-east Sardinia. Thirty-nine samples in various water bodies were examined and among them 64 taxa belonging mainly to the Heterokontophyta, Streptophyta (Conjugates) and Cyanophyta divisions. Various species characteristic for various types of reservoirs (artificial reservoirs with different trophic levels, water pools, etc.) were found. The most common genera are the filamentous algae Anabaena, Oedogonium, Spirogyra and Zygnema. Also Cosmarium subcostatum Nordstedt, Staurastrum punctulatum Brèbisson, Cylindrocystis brebissonii (Ralfs) De Bary and several species of Bacillariophyceae are widely distributed. The purpose of this study is to contribute to the knowledge of this microorganism in Sardinia. The present study is part of a major research project on the taxonomy and ecology of freshwater algae from Ogliastra’s Tacchi.
