The book Montevideo e la Repubblica dell’Uruguay: descrizione e statistica was published in Milan in 1885 by Giosuè E. Bordoni, headmaster of the International College of Montevideo. The book is one of the few works dedicated to Uruguay after the Italian unification. It remains an important proof of the development and wellbeing achieved by emigrated from Italy since beginning of the nineteenth century. Moreover the book presents the expectations for social growth and civil liberty nursed by literature about American Promised Land.
