Description of a new species of Cebrio from S-W Sardinia (Coleoptera, Elateridae, Cebrioninae). Cebrio melonii n. sp. from South-West Sardinia (locus typicus: Arbus, Bruncu Arcu) is here described and illustrated. At first sight the new species resembles Cebrio strictus Gené, 1836 but it is well differentiated for erected pubescence over the head, pronotum and all elytral surface, for more slender body and antennae, for larger eye diameter and for dorsal surface dark brown.
