The traça of el fratin: the Plan of Palearo Fratino Brothers for the Fort of San Filippo at Setubal and the fort on the Hill of San Giuliano at Alghero. This article examines the plans of the brothers Jacopo and Giorgio Palearo Fratino, military engineers in the service of the Crown of Spain in the second half of the 16th century for the fortress to be built in Setubal (Portugal) and Alghero (Sardinia, Italy). The first fortress, designed by Jacopo in 1581 was finally built at the end of the sixteenth century under the direction of other engineers; the second one, designed by Giorgio Palearo in 1575, although it had many supporters at the time and in later centuries, was never built. The drawing that describes the work shows the use of models and repeated design solutions and a special attention, in the positioning of the fortified perimeter, to the morphology of the construction site. Through comparative studies of works created by Jacopo and Giorgio Palearo and the analysis of military engineering books in this article we propose a formal analysis of the projects and a digital model of the fortress of San Giuliano in Alghero.

Abstract
Through comparative studies of works created by Jacopo and Giorgio Palearo and the analysis of military engineering books in this article we propose a formal analysis of the projects and a digital model of the fortress of San Giuliano in Alghero.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
