The privatization of public organizations that has taken place over the last decades in western democracies, has led to a blurring of the boundaries between public and private sector organizations. Hybrid types have thus emerged. The research explains how in publicly owned stake-holding companies the legal status of the organizations, or the prevailing power of political authority, infl uences the organizations’ decision making and the implied concept of value.
