The aim of this work is the validation of MODIS SST standard ocean product for Sea Surface Temperature (SST) mapping in coastal and marine waters around Sardinia. In order to test the algorithm, oceanographic data collected by the Biology and Ecology Department of University of Cagliari during three years (2006, 2007 and 2008) of surveys in the framework of the MEDITS project (Mediterranean International Trawl Survey) have been used.
