During a ten-year period we have examined 10224 sbjects with pollinosis and we found a very uncommon rate of sensitization to olive-tree pollen (0.68%) even when the pollen concentration was high. Following this observation, a biometric-electron microscope study was performed on the pollens coming from different sardinian growing areas and from peninsular ones. The data are inconsistent, so we project further studies to evaluate possible correlations between allergenic power and starch content in the pollen.

Abstract
During a ten-year period we have examined 10224 sbjects with pollinosis and we found a very uncommon rate of sensitization to olive-tree pollen (0.68%) even when the pollen concentration was high. Following this observation, a biometric-electron microscope study was performed on the pollens coming from different sardinian growing areas and from peninsular ones. The data are inconsistent, so we project further studies to evaluate possible correlations between allergenic power and starch content in the pollen.File in questo prodotto:
