Abstract

Preliminary results on the selective collection of post-larvae (PL) using light traps are reported. A total of almost 1300 specimens of PL were sampled, belonging to 14 families of Teleosts. The data obtained show the traps’ usefulness to investigate seasonal occurrence and species composition of settlers in the western Mediterranean coastal waters. Moreover valuable information are gained for further studies devoted to understanding the demographic impact of variation in the number of individuals recruiting from pelagic to benthic environment
