This essay aims to shed light on the multiple interconnections between the Italian cinema and television infrastructures between 1971 and 1976. Drawing on documents referring to ANICA (the Italian association of film producers and distributors), it analyses how the Italian cinema industry reacted to the multiplication of TV channels, the emergence of the «cable phenomenon» and the consolidation of those foreign televisions – such as TSI (Televisione della Svizzera Italiana), Télé Monte Carlo and TeleCapodistria – broadcasting in Italy.
