The aim of the Public History Lab at the University of Cagliari is to introduce people to the study of tools for analysing and discovering the historical and cultural wealth of the Sardinian and Italian territory. The aim is to teach how to produce, preserve and disseminate history in the territory and in the social fabric; to discover both classical sources and less conventional ones such as oral sources, photography, cinema and digital environments. The workshop activities fit into the scientific and methodological framework of Public History. It responds to the need for history coming from the public, in particular from the younger generations. Among the aims of the workshop is to relate students to the cultural heritage of the context in which they live and work. Attention to monuments, archaeological sites, local histories, rituals, food, clothing, and the landscape of one's home community has been a constant in the projects carried out in the workshop over the years.
