A relatively simple class of parametric dynamic models for simulating the growth of unevenaged forest stands, expressed in terms of diameter classes, is presented and discussed. The problem of model validation towards the available growth data is formulated as a non-linear multipoint boundary value problem and solved via a heuristic iterative procedure which takes into account the parameter sensitivity of models. Simulation results are shown.

Abstract: | A relatively simple class of parametric dynamic models for simulating the growth of unevenaged forest stands, expressed in terms of diameter classes, is presented and discussed. The problem of model validation towards the available growth data is formulated as a non-linear multipoint boundary value problem and solved via a heuristic iterative procedure which takes into account the parameter sensitivity of models.
